Donor Egg Time Line and Screening Tests

 
Receipt of all materials
( questionnaire, records, HSG, picture )

Allow one to four weeks for initial consultation

Consultation visit ( including andrology evaluation )

Donor identified and accepted ( may take 6 months; usually shorter )



Allow a month or two for cycle synchronization

Donor stimulated, eggs retrieved ( takes about 2 weeks ) Eggs fertilized, transferred ( 5 days total time at clinic )

Pregnancy testing 2 weeks after transfer Continue hormonal medications for 10 full weeks if pregnant

Pregnancy testing 2 weeks after transfer continue hormonal medications for 10 full weeks if pregnant

Screening Tests

CMV IgG and IgM testing
pap smear within 1 year
mammogram within 5 years if you are between ages 35 - 40, within 2 years if you are between ages 41 - 50, and within a year if you are 51 years old or more
fasting glucose level within 3 years if anyone in your immediate family or 2 or more people among your relatives have diabetes, if you are obese, or if you had diabetes while pregnant
electrocardiogram within the year if you are aged 40 years or more
total cholesterol level within the year if a parent or sibling has/had a total > 240 mg/dl, if members of your family developed premature ( <55 years ) cardiovascular disease, if you have diabetes, or if you smoke
fecal occult
blood screening
within the year if you are aged > 50 years, or have/had first degree relatives with colorectal cancer, or have had endometrial, ovarian, or breast cancer yourself, or have had inflammatory bowel disease, adenomatous polyps, or colorectal cancer yourself, or have family members with polyposis coli or cancer family syndrome
preconceptual counseling if you are age 35 years or more, with an obstetrician, to review risks of pregnancy
general medical screening recommended for all
psychological counseling recommended for all
