Jake Mayer, EmbryologistDr. Mayer joined the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, EVMS, in 1994 having previously served as laboratory director of the Hoag Fertility Service Center in Orange County, California. From 1982 to 1986, he was a member of the clinical embryology team at the Jones Institute.

He earned his PhD in reproductive physiology at Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biology. He has been a member of the Executive Council of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies ( SART ) since 1995.

Dr. Mayer is a highly respected researcher; his work is recognized throughout the medical community. He has been the featured speaker at numerous conferences on infertility and reproductive medicine. His research discoveries received national attention in 1999 when he presented the results of his study on the use of highly purified air in IVF incubators. With the addition of these IVF incubator air filters, laboratories around the world have experienced dramatic increases in pregnancy rates.
